I'll give you half score because I'm pretty indifferent about this. I don't regret watching it but there was nothing that made me glad I did either. The animation was good but the jokes were really bland. They were all standard fare for these Mario Shorts style flashes. IE: Trippin' on shrooms, pimp dancing, dubbing in song lyrics and sound clips from tv shows, repeatedly trying to do something and failing, etc. I guess the only overused gag I didn't see was Mario getting a concussion from bashing blocks with his head. You could do better if you watch a bunch of these Mario shorts that others have made and try to come up with gags no one has done before, but are also funny. Not "he hasn't tried to destroy the castle this way!" or "No one's put this TV sound clip to Mario sprites yet!" Try to do something completely different. (Another example, how many times has Mario been launched somewhere as a gag? A bunch.)

I really wish Alvin hadn't popularized these stand alone intros that people keep making. Because honestly I think they're a waste of time. I can tell you put a lot of effort into the animation so kudos on that. But my main issue is that this is cliche and boring as hell. English lyrics in a song would be better at engaging an english speaking audience like NG. Plus, you DID have too many characters. Even after watching some of your episodes I was having a hard time telling who was who. Which makes me lose any interest in what is happening. This is especially bad when using sonic edits because regardless of how much you change them, they all start to look alike when you throw too many together. "The sonic looking guy just went super and now he's fighting the Shadow looking guy who's also super! Who's the villian here? Is this an epic battle?" I know you'll say "you have to watch the series!" But then, the intros should be at the front of the episodes, not submitted by themselves. That's just my opinion.

JohnTheHedgechidna responds:

Well there's just one problem, I didn't get this idea from Alvin. I can't stand when people think Alvin was the inspiration for everything because HE WASN'T. I had an idea like this LONG before I even heard of SMBZ. Also, I've seen more series who have a LOT more characters than I have so I'm pretty sure I can deal with using them all... I have planned for 2-3 of them to die anyway. On the part about having intros submitted along with the episodes: If you read the description you'd know that I intend on putting it in the episodes I just like showing people what it is before-hand so they'll know what to expect.

You have serious issues with your camera. I watched it three times and each time it did something different. Usually misaligned with the animation so you get a lot of white space. Especially at the end, so I couldn't see the final punchline (what became of the shrunk dude).

Flaxington responds:

Fixed (hopefully) Thanks for letting me know.

Pretty abysmal. And what's up with that dude in the corner. Is he supposed to be your logo? It might help if your logo took up less space and you went with one that can't be confused for a character on the screen.

What part of don't submit tests and unfinished projects to the portal do people not understand. What was the point of this? To show us that you can barely animate this? If you're looking for feedback, you should do a FP post or ask in the forums or something. And what would you ask anyway? "Hey guys, do you think I do a good job of copying every other sprite animators version of Chaos Control?"

Sorry to keep ragging on you but stop submitting clips and 4 minute long opening credits and actually get down to business making your series.

BG Music: Runs together.
Length: Don't blink.
Story: None.
Movement: Choppy.
Background: Pixelated nightmare.
Effrot: Little.

Try harder next time!

Pretty funny, but you lose a star for the painfully predictable ending. It would have been better if you had a Joker reference, like maybe a big, red smile painted on the Pinkie Pie doll followed by some laughter in the background. That would have been awesome.

So we all make the flashes as good as our skills allow, and we improve over time. But even at it's lowest, there is still a certain standard you should meet before releasing, and this flash falls way, way below that. I suggest looking at the way other Sonic sprite flashes are done.

TheDemonShooter responds:

Its not even made in flash. But, il try out flash.

"Criticize all you want, I don't care."

Hmm... I think I see your problem.

marti031 responds:

Thanks for the understanding man

This was not an opening, it was a music video. I don't see why people keep confusing the two and I don't understand the obsession of people to make these long intros instead of just actually doing the episodes. Not to mention this had better have a skip button if you do use it in the series or you'll bore your audience into voting 0 before it even starts. Openings should be no more then 30-60 seconds at the maximum.
Sorry for the low score but the thing that really chafed me was the scenes were incredibly slow paced, almost like you padded the animation to make sure it fit the entire song. It's an intro, why are we watching 45 second clips that look like they might have been copied directly from the episodes?

Alvc57 responds:

Its a opening I use the music of Sonic 2006. and a intro can should be more than 60 seconds like 90.
But my ending will have 87 seconds.
